We saw two juvenile otters today on the way to lunch. They were in a slough right off the road. I spotted them as we were driving by, so Brian turned the car around and we pulled off the road and watched them for about 10 minutes. They were checking us out by sticking their necks as far out of the water as they could and playing/cuddling with each other.
That's the first time I have really seen otter in the wild, despite multiple attempts. Too fun.
There is a couple of minutes during every walk where Solstice's ears start flopping in rhythm to her gait. I love watching that.
Finally, some Vox themes that I really dig, and that I feel represent me. Now, the question is toucan or chickadee?
This is a much better dilemma than how the hell I'm lgoing to get through my presentation tomorrow, which is what I have spent the rest of the evening thinking about.
I don't know if it has to do with the weather changing or what, but I keep seeing the quail fooling around and acting goofy in our yard. The car really throws them for a loop-- they kind of know they should fly away from it, but they really would just rather run.
I wish I had this on video. The flock of quail was in our front yard when we came home from work tonight, and they all ran across the street, except for one that went the wrong way and ran under the tree. You could almost hear the "zoinks!" when it realized it was all alone, and then it ran as fast as its awkward little legs would carry it back to the rest of its compadres.
